New solutions are currently being sought for the collection and utilization of end-of-life textiles.
Last summer, discarded textiles were received at several shopping centers in the area.
In November 2025, nationwide collection, sorting and recycling of discarded textiles
Sales ended in Southwest Finland. Operations ended due to low demand for recycled fiber and its
due to unprofitability and preparation for EU textile producer responsibility.
With producer responsibility, the responsibility for organizing the collection and recycling of textiles becomes
to move to textile producers.

What are removal textiles?
You can bring clean and dry, but unusable clothes and
home textiles:
- jackets, pants, skirts and shirts
- sheets, towels and tablecloths
All dirty, wet, moldy and strongly smelling textiles belong to mixed waste. You can dispose of them in your own mixed waste container. Large amounts of mixed waste are accepted
at sorting stations and at the Hangassuo waste center for a fee.
NOTE! The collection of household textiles does not include underwear, socks, tights,
bags, belts, shoes, rugs, pillows, blankets, cushions, soft toys.
