According to the Act on the Administration of Environmental Protection by Municipalities (64/1986), a municipality must monitor and promote environmental protection in its area in such a way that, by protecting, managing and developing nature and other environments, a healthy, pleasant, stimulating and ecologically sustainable living environment is secured for the residents of the municipality.
The technical committee acts as the environmental protection authority of the municipality of Pomarkku.
The key tasks of the Environmental Protection Authority are:
- processing and monitoring of environmental permits
- processing and monitoring of soil permits
- Waste Act supervision
- monitoring of diffuse wastewater
- environmental monitoring
- promoting nature conservation
- environmental protection-related advice, guidance and information
